This page contains a list of DualShock 4 Compatible PlayStation 3 Games. You can simply plug a DualShock 4 into a PS3 to play the games on this list. These PS3 games are fully compatible with the PS4's DualShock 4 unless otherwise stated. [1]

With the recent 4.60 update, the DualShock 4 can now be used wirelessly;

-Under 'Accessory Settings' on your PS3, locate and select 'Manage Bluetooth devices'. Select 'Register New Device.' The PS3 will begin Bluetooth scanning. Simultaneously press and hold the DualShock 4's 'Share' and 'PS' buttons until the controller light bar starts blinking. The controller should then appear in the PS3's list as a 'Wireless Controller.'

However, there are some limitations when using the DualShock 4 on the PlayStation 3. These are:

  • No Rumble Feedback (Vibration)
  • Motion Sensing does not work
  • Touch Pad does not work
  • PS Button does not work
  • Speaker on DualShock 4 does not work
  • Headset port does not work
  • Light bar has no effect on the game, as it just stays a whiteish, blue colour (when used wireless)

PlayStation 1[edit]

All PlayStation 1 Games are compatible when played on a PlayStation 3 with the DualShock 4.

PC Games[edit]

The Dualshock 4 has been confirmed to take advantage of basic tasks and certain games on the PC. It's been shown running on Steam's Full Screen feature and works in certain games like Hotline Miami plugged in.

To play PC Games you will need to download Input Mapper. Input Mapper will allow you to use a PS4 Controller on PC Games, Programs and Emulators. The tool emulates the PS4 Controller as an XBOX 360 Controller. You can customize the colour of the lightbar, remap the buttons, and even use the PS4 Controller's touchpad, all with Input Mapper. Here is the link: https://www.inputmapper.com/

The DualShock 4 can be used wirelessly on the PC. Go to the 'Control Panel' in the 'Start' menu. Then type in the search bar: Devices and Printers. Then click 'Add new device' and hold down the Share and PS Button on the controller until the Light Bar on the controller starts flashing. The PC will recognize the device as 'Wireless Controller' and then you can register it.

The DualShock 4 also works on the Mac. It works wirelessly and wired with a cable

It's possible to get your PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controller working wirelessly with your PlayStation 3 following a recent update to the console.

Sony recently issued a new update for the PS3 that quietly added support for the DualShock 4 controller without the use of a micro USB cable. Previously you had to use a cable for it to work.

Reddit user shafiggy16 noticed the change, and we've verified it works.

Here's how to get set up:

After downloading the PS3 update, you need to register your DualShock 4 as a Bluetooth device, which requires you hold down the PS and Share buttons once you've disconnected it from USB.

After doing that, you'll be able to use the DualShock 4 wirelessly, but it acts as a generic controller, so there are some features that do not work, such as rumble and Sixasis Motion.

And it doesn't work with certain games, too, such as Gran Turismo 6 (there's an in-development compatibility list over on PlayStation Trophies which is worth a look). But Dark Souls 2, for example, works fine.

Here are the steps:

  1. Plug in DS4 controller via USB
  2. Go to Accessory Settings and Manage Bluetooth Devices
  3. Scan for Bluetooth Device
  4. Unplug DS4, press Share and PS Buttons
  5. Once device is found, plug DS4 back in and select Wireless Controller
  6. Congratulations! You now have a rumble-free DS4 working with your PS3!
